Soft, gentle movements, suitable for rehabilitation, along with deep energy collecting breathing create tai chi's energy balancing. Chuan means fist and indicates self-defense is included in the training.
Tai Ji is the art of balancing Qi or energy through moving meditation.
Our rooftop class begins with standing meditation followed by a short qi gong warm up. The basics continue with silk reeling/ clamping and tai chi walking. After the basics, the Yang Bai 64 Posture Tai Ji Form is learned with self-defense applications. Advanced students learn push hands, a two person fighting set, tai ji weapons and Taoist Philosophy.
