“The human body can heal itself, though at times, it may need a little help.” These are words to live and practice medicine by, for Dr. Carolina Rivas, Chiropractic Physician. An open-minded attitude, combined with dedication and education allows this doctor to practice as a skilled and compassionate chiropractor.

Dr. Rivas is able to offer methods in her practice that will not be offered by all chiropractic physicians – she uses techniques such as Graston and Pettibon.

A graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida, Dr. Rivas has chosen to build her practice in her hometown of Miami, Florida with determination and goals to succeed in bringing an overall improvement in the quality of life for her community. Dr. Rivas is fluent in Spanish and English. She offers her patients wellness oriented chiropractic care for everyday health, treatment of injury, as well as the opportunity to obtain peak performance. She sees her practice of chiropractic as being for those who want healing with a more “human” connection. She enjoys getting to know her patients on a personal and professional level so that she can better understand and treat each patient individually and thoroughly.

Dr. Rivas practices at Shin, a multidisciplinary wellness center in the heart of Miami. Part of an environment infused with practitioners on a similar mission to nurture, comfort and heal, Dr. Rivas feels at home. She is able to share knowledge and techniques she was able to study not only locally, but overseas as well. As a member of Clinic Abroad Program, Dr. Rivas was part of a team sent to Vietnam to not only help the Vietnamese populace, but to broaden her own horizons as a physician. The language and culture barrier encountered in Vietnam gave Dr. Rivas a completely new perspective in treating her patients. This experience has contributed to Dr. Rivas’ understanding of how the body has its own way of communicating. With the exposure to a different society combined with her diverse background, Dr. Rivas understands that people everywhere are willing to utilize different techniques to improve their own health and wellness, regardless of culture and background. People demonstrated to her that they would accept healing techniques that are not so standardized and invasive, but perhaps more innovative and wellness oriented.

Though standard chiropractic techniques are offered, Dr. Rivas is able to offer methods in her practice that will not be offered by all chiropractic physicians – she uses such techniques as Graston and Pettibon. Graston is specifically used to break down internal scar tissue that may have resulted from sports, an accident or from simple overuse. Pettibon is a practice for spinal rehabilitation, posture correction and for treatment of Scoliosis; Dr. Rivas treats the patient in the clinic and designs an at-home routine as well, so that the healing continues.

Her outgoing, gracious and caring personality is seen in her practice. Dr. Rivas plans to always treat her patients with medical efficacy and skill as well as kindness and personalization.
